Pair of Sugar Vases, silver-gilt, London, 1814?5, mark of Paul Storr for Rundell, Bridge & Rundell.
A Roman marble funerary urn, formerly in the Lansdowne Collection, provides a somewhat incongruous model for these elegant sugar vases. Examples of the same form were also produced by Rundell & Bridge?s other suppliers, Scott & Smith, as early as 1805.
